At Aerospace Testing Expo 2007 in Munich (27-29 March, 2007), EADS TEST & SERVICES is presenting for the first time a demonstrator of its new optical test system. The optical test system is for all types of on-board displays: In Flight Entertainment (IFE) systems, cockpit displays, Head-Up Displays (HUD), Helmet-Mounted Displays (HMD), ...To date, it is the only generic, optical test system for displays available in the world aerospace test market. Aimed at both production and maintenance testing, it has been pre-demonstrated to some system and equipment manufacturers who have shown great interest in this new tool.
It brings new benefits to the testing of displays; unlike the other systems currently used for testing display equipment, it is fully automated, therefore it saves time and guarantees full objectivity of the tests (no human subjective assessment); test times are optimised through the use of a single sensor for different types of measurement and a single acquisition allows for multiple measurements.
EADS TEST & SERVICES’ new optical test system is still under development; it will be available as a stand-alone tester or as an optical extension to EADS TEST & SERVICES’ existing test systems (D.A.T.E., ATEC), already in use by avionics equipment and system manufacturers. First orders are expected in 2007.
